“It was all very hectic last week. I literally got a call at 4pm asking if I could make a flight at 6. I was scrambling to get to the airport, thankfully I made it. I had an idea the move was on the cards the week before but then it all fell through. These things happen in football sometimes. You just have to be ready.

“I am delighted to be here, and I was pleased with the game last week. Hopefully we can go one step further tomorrow and push through to the next round,

“I did not know I was going to be starting until a couple of hours before the game. It some ways it was good because I did not have too long to think about it! I did not have enough time to stress myself out or get nervous.

“So I was happy to be thrown straight into it for my first game in European football. I have been out for 16 months so I did not expect my first competitive game back to be in the Europa League! But it went well and we look forward to tomorrow now.

“I have had a very frustrating time the past while with injuries but a lot of people go through that in football. I feel it has made me a stronger person mentally and time will time will tell if it has made me a better player as well.

“I had a lot if time to think about life on and off the pitch so you appreciate the lucky position we are in as footballers. I am delighted to be here at Aberdeen and I am hoping I can show what I can do – show that to Watford and the footballing world. Hopefully that will help Aberdeen this year and it will help myself going forward in my career.

“The game last week showed how good Aberdeen are and the quality we have. For Burnley to finish where they did in the Premiership was special but we have gone out there and matched them. We are definitely still in the tie going into the game tomorrow. It shows the level of Scottish football is up there. Burnley were challenging the top six sides in England so if we were matching them, the gap between the two leagues is maybe not as big as some people think.

“I have only been here a week but I know how much it would mean to everyone connected to the club if we could get a result. There has been a buzz about the place. If we can get a result then we would become hero’s. It would be a match that was remembered for a long time.

“In the game last week they had a lot of the ball, you would expect that, but we had our chances in that game. Being away from home, it will be different and it will be tough. The fans were unbelievable last week and I know there is a big support coming down tomorrow. If they can be our 12th man, there is no reason why we cant push on to the next round.”
