“I certainly didn’t expect to start.
“I found out in the warm up that McGinn was struggling and then Tony Docherty told me I was starting about ten minutes to kick off. I was buzzing and couldn’t wait for the first whistle. There were no nerves at all from me.
“I enjoy football and there’s no point getting nervous. There were maybe too many early flicks, but that’s the way I like to play!
“The first half especially we were brilliant and had too much pace for them. I’m delighted that the game went so well.
“When you’re injured and watching the team train and play you’re so desperate to be involved. When I came back into the squad last week I was so desperate to get back. I trained very well this week and that got me in the team today. The time of the injury was very unlucky, but I’ve worked hard over the summer.
“It’s so good the young lads have been getting a chance. The bench had Dean, Connor, Bruce and Sam Roscoe and there’s more good boys coming through. You just need that chance and it’s good to see. Scott McKenna started it off for us and I’m delighted because we’re all pals, so we’re all pleased to see each other do so well.”
