“We’ve got a couple of injuries with Reynolds out until Christmas and now Scott (McKenna) is out for six weeks. There’s also Shay out due to being suspended so they are huge losses. Scotty has been outstanding since he came in and has deserved everything that’s been thrown at him.

“My more natural position on the pitch is to play centre half so I’m more than happy to fill in until Scott gets back. We’ve still got plenty cover. Shinnie can play left back, Dom can do a job at right back and then there’s Mikey and myself.

“It’s unfortunate what happened to Scott at the weekend, but it felt more natural to be back playing centre half and I will hopefully remind the manager of what I can do in there.

“The game on Sunday shows that hunger, desire and fitness that we have (to score late on) and we are a team that we keep going right until the end. I always find when you play against the likes of Celtic you can hold them off for 90 odd minutes and then the last kick of the ball they can go up the park and score. I think that’s something you could really do with having in a team and I feel that since the manager has come in we feel if we don’t score early there’s less pressure to run up the park and score.

“It’s great young Brucey scoring as well. I am so pleased for him. He deserved the chance and he definitely took it when he came on.

“One thing that’s been good for myself and every other player in the dressing room is you need competition for places as it keeps you on your toes. The last thing you need is getting too comfortable with your position. If the manager brings in more because we’re short, it keeps everyone on their toes. It just means if you play on a Saturday you’ve got to perform consistently every week.

“Regardless of Rangers going down to ten men, yes there were tired legs from Thursday night, but to still come away with a draw was ok. Last season we lost three times to them which was not great, so we’ll take the draw at this early stage of the season. It’s a game we came away from thinking there was a chance to take three.

“It’s going to be a very tough game this Saturday. It always is at Dens Park and will be a tight game. We’ve got a good record down there, but every season is different. They’ve recruited well and it will be a very tough game.

“We’ve had a really good week training wise. We managed to relax a bit on Monday and Tuesday and then got back into training. The manager has got us back up to speed and everyone’s looking sharp and other than the injuries we’ve got everyone’s looking good.”
