“The main thing after the disappointment against Celtic was to make sure we got back to winning ways, but we knew it would be a difficult game.

“Partick Thistle are at the wrong end of the table and fighting for points and its coming into a very important part of the year for them. They were tough to break down but thankfully we knew if we kept grinding it out we’d get a chance to eventually to put away. Although it was only 1-0 I thought our play deserved a bit more of a scoreline.

“The referee said (the disallowed goal) it was a high foot and I’ve not seen it back, but at the time I didn’t think it was a high foot. It didn’t affect the result in the end thankfully.

“We started the game off well and there were spells in the first half that we just couldn’t get the breakthrough. Thankfully it was scrappy goal that got us the three points.

“Ryan’s a brilliant player and in the past few weeks he’s been on great form. We missed him at the weekend with the creativity he has. He’s a lot stronger than people think and you saw the way he held off two lads. It was great skill, but I think he was shooting! It’s brilliant playing with Christie and tonight he made a couple of great runs and he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself.

“Once we got the goal Miles came on. You could see how lively he was and you could see with his pace he got on the ball and tried to run at us. The backline did well though in the later stages, and Joe’s not had too much to do. We saw the game out ok and although the fans were a bit nervous when its 1-0, I don’t think we were in any real danger.

“We’re now got more points at this stage than last season so there’s an improvement in terms of points and that’s all we can hope for is to keep kicking on and improving each year.

“It will be a tough game against Hearts, but we said before today’s game we wanted to take six points out of the next two games. We’ve done the first part and it’s the last game of the year so hopefully there’s a big crowd to get us over the line and then we can all enjoy our break.”
