Player Profile - Details
The academy graduate has been one of the most promising players to play for Paul Sheerin’s U20’s team in the last few seasons. An attack-minded player Connor can play on either wing or upfront and possesses great close control and speed. He made his first team debut as a 16-year-old in a 3-0 defeat to St Johnstone at the tail end of the 2015/16 season. He was then loaned out to Brechin City the following season and rejoined the Glebe Park outfit for the first half of the 2017/18 season in the Championship. Despite a few goals he couldn’t revive the team’s fortunes as they struggled with the jump up in class to the higher league. Connor continued to play for the U20’s side as they fought on both fronts and reached the Youth Cup Final at Hampden against Hibernian. McLennan opened the scoring with a tremendous solo effort, but the team were unable to hold on and Hibs ran out 3-1 winners.
He was given his home debut in the 4-0 League Cup win against St Mirren. Two months later and a day after his 19th birthday he was given his first senior start for the club and capped it off with a memorable strike to put The Dons 2-0 up against St Mirren. Connor rounded off his debut season in The Dons first team by playing 27 times and scoring four goals, including a memorable strike against Rangers in the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter – final replay victory at Ibrox.
