“It is a relief now to have the comfort of not needing points to keep us in the league. St Johnstone can’t alter their position in the league but they can’t take their foot off the gas at all because they know they have some huge games coming up. So we know what they will bring in terms of the fight and the hunger that they always show when we play them. We know that is coming and our focus needs to be that we match their desire to win the game.

“There is maybe a feel from the outside that there is not a lot riding on it, but the players here still have a lot to play for in terms of their own futures. I am sure the manager will be watching and making judgements for next season on who he wants to keep in his team.

“Some players will be leaving. That is football. That is what happens. The lads who are playing need to be professional enough to go out and deliver a performance. There is a certain amount of professional pride needed in situations like this.

“There will be a few more younger boys involved over the next two games and that is exciting for them. They have the hunger and desire to get themselves in the team.

“We need to give the fans something to cheer about.

“The supporters are paying good money, petrol is not cheap and the tickets add up if you are travelling with family or kids. People work hard for their money and expect to see a performance. They pay their hard-earned money to watch and cheer us. That needs to be on people’s minds as well.

“I feel a lot more like the goalkeeper I can be in the last few games.

“I feel confident, I am looking forward to games and feel good going into them. I need to replicate that and give more of that. Hopefully it has shown the manager what I can be and what I can continue to be to keep my place in the team.

“I don’t read a lot of the press and I try and stay off social media but you hear bits and pieces. It can take away your focus. My focus is to play well and to try to maintain my recent form and keep that going. I know that is the level I can play at consistently over a season. I need to show that. I have two games left to continue that form.

“I have two years of my contract left. I need to get my head down and work hard. As far as I am concerned, whatever happens – people coming in, people going out; my focus will be on getting going straight away. I will work hard during the close season, train hard and keep myself in good condition and come back raring to go in the middle of June.

“There are things I have worked on with the goalkeeping coaches and I have tweaked a few little things technically which has obviously helped a bit. I won’t go into details but there were certain things that I needed to work on that I have corrected a bit which has helped the number of saves I have been able to make.

“Early in the season it was one or two shots on goal that was leading to us conceding. Sometimes there is not a lot you can do about it. Last season we had a lot of cleansheets and there was not a massive amount of different things happening. It is just the way the ball rolls sometimes.

“I am not trying to distract from my performances earlier in the season, I was not playing well enough but I now feel I have got back to being the goalkeeper I can be. I need to build on that.”
