25 October 2021
Author AFC Media Team

Information from the pre-ops meeting this week.

COP26

Supporters attending Ibrox for Rangers v Aberdeen on Wednesday, 27 October should be aware of road closures in and around Glasgow and plan their journey in advance.

Drivers are reminded that the A814 Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow is closed from the Partick Interchange to J19 at Anderston.

There are a lot of road closures around the SEC area, most notably, the Squinty Bridge, which some supporters may have used in the past. Access to Ibrox is from either the M74 or M8. Due to the restrictions and road closures, more traffic is likely on the motorways so please leave in plenty of time to get to the game.

Information on road closures can be found on the Get Ready Glasgow website. https://www.getreadyglasgow.com/cop26/traffic-and-travel

POST-MATCH TRAVEL ADVICE

Aberdeen Supporters MAY be held back for 10-15 minutes at the end of the game to allow the majority of Rangers supporters to leave the area. Early information will be passed from the Event Control Room if this is to happen. Given the traffic issues externally, this does not impact greatly on the overall travel time home.

The safety barrier/fence will be in place before the game and may be retained in position after, dependant on circumstances. Police Scotland will facilitate the movement of coaches and other vehicles to the motorway at the end of the game.

The Aberdeen supporters should exit the car park turning right, on Broomloan Road towards the M8 motorway, and will be assisted by Police Scotland. All vehicles within the car park will be held for a short time and will all leave in convoy.
