Highly rated youngster heads out on loan

Michael Ruth has today joined Scottish League One side Falkirk FC on loan for the 2021/22 season.

Aberdeen beat off stiff competition from north and south of the border for the striker when he signed from Queens Park in 2019 on a two-year deal.

In his first season at Pittodrie the forward impressed and got stronger as the campaign went on, and he was rewarded with being named the 2019/20 Development Player of the Year.

Michael signed a one-year contract extension with the Club in September 2020 before spending the first half of last season on loan at Championship side Arbroath FC, making 16 appearances.

During the second half of last season the 19-year-old made his Aberdeen debut against Hamilton Accies in March 2021 and has two first team appearances to his name.

The youngster scored the winner for the Aberdeen B side against Bora Rangers FC last month in the SPFL Trust Trophy and scored a vital goal in the fantastic win against Arbroath FC at the weekend.

Michael joins a number of fellow Dons from the Development squad heading out on loan this season as Pathways Manager, Neil Simpson, explains:

“This is an excellent chance for Michael to get some game time in a very competitive league.

“Training full-time under Paul Sheerin will undoubtedly aid his continued development and help him to continue to work towards fulfilling his full potential.”
