“I’m sure the new manager will be pleased with the result first and foremost. There was some good play, some of it was a bit edgy, but it was an important win for us. We’re still fighting for third place and although it’s a big ask, it’s still possible for us. We need to play better but today was important to keep asking the question of Hibs.

“We ended the game with six academy graduates on the pitch – though I don’t suppose Andy counts as a young player any more! – but for the young boys to see it through to the win is important.

“You look at Dean and Connor, you forget how young they are because they’ve been around a while. The youngsters took on all the instruction, they did what’s asked and to come away and win, on a terrible pitch, by playing out from the back and being brave in possession, drawing them on to us to get past the press, it shows a lot of character and I hope they take a lot of confidence from it.

“I’ve had a couple of chats with the new manager, we’re looking forward to having him and Allan Russell come in this week. Paul, Barry and Simmy have left things in a good state for then to pick things up, two wins and two clean sheets in a row, so we look forward to picking up from there.

“He’s said he’s looking to play free-flowing, attacking football, score some goals, bringing through the young players too, so I’m looking forward to hear more about that and to working with him now. There’s a receptive group of players here, you can see that with the way we’ve changed how we play over the last few weeks, and this group will buy into whatever Stephen Glass tries to implement.”
