Following a hard fought win in Perth, Paul Sheerin was delighted that his team had started off the post-split games in the right fashion.

“It’s always tough coming here, there aren’t too many classics between the teams and you have to work hard for anything you get. That was the case this afternoon. We started poorly, we overplayed at times and so we brought pressure on ourselves. We worked through that by midway through the first half and were better from there, without carrying a threat.

“Second half we asked for more forward runs and that ultimately brought us the goal to win the game. It was a vital three points for us to get to give us a good start to the post-split fixtures.

“Getting the goal takes the shackles off a little bit and if Fraser scores and makes it 2-0, it might have been a bit more comfortable. They threw everything at us in the last 15 minutes and asked a lot of questions, but defensively, I thought we were excellent.

“We have to find ways of being better in forward areas and we’ve maybe not really done that yet, but we changed the shape and got Jonny further forward and we got the reward from that today.

“We didn’t get Fraser training until Friday morning after a wee niggle, but we needed more presence at the top end of the pitch and he was able to give us that in the second half, he was very impressive.”

With Stephen Glass taking charge from Tuesday, Sheerin was delighted to hand over after a win that keeps the pressure on Hibs.

“Normally a new manager comes into a club that’s struggling with its league position and we’re not that, albeit we’ve had a poor run. But we’re in a good position to qualify for Europe, as we’ve done consistently over the last few years, there’s a good group of players who are willing to work hard, with a great appetite to be successful. I’m sure he’ll enjoy working with them.”
