Andrew Considine this evening became the 61st Don to be capped by Scotland and to pull on a dark blue jersey.

The Scots ran out 1-0 winners at Hampden Park against Slovakia to remain top of the group in the UEFA Nations League as Andy helped the side to a cleansheet.

Reflecting on his Scotland debut the defender said:

“I am emotional to be honest with you.

“A very proud moment for me and my family.

“It is a long time since I’ve been involved in a Scotland set up.

“I’m 33 now and getting the call the other day was completely out of the blue, it was a really quick turnaround, but over the moon and delighted to be part of a great win.

“It was very nerve-wracking I’m not going to lie but it was a great feeling to go and win the game.

“I’ve got enough experience playing European football with Aberdeen so that helps but to play with top class footballers really helps.

“It was a big step up. You sit and watch it at home. World Cup, European Championships and what not so you know you are up against top class opposition. You really need to be on your toes but fantastic night. The boys done really well.

“This is why you play football, for moments like this.

“A very special night as I say for myself and the family.”

Well done Andy from everyone at AFC!
