Join AFCCT for PE @ Pittodrie
AFCCT TO HELP KICK START THE SCHOOL DAY
AFC’s partner charity using the power of football to engage pupils in PE @ Pittodrie initiative
Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is challenging youngsters of the North East to kick start their day in a fun, positive way with their brand-new PE @ Pittodrie sessions.
Working in partnership with both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils, AFCCT is encouraging children to participate in some light physical activity at the start of the day with a daily PE lesson streamed via the Aberdeen FC YouTube channel.
The warm-up sessions, which the whole family can participate in and require no equipment, will be hosted by an AFCCT coach, and broadcast daily until the end of the school term to get children motivated before they begin their schoolwork.
Completed within a limited space, our initial warm up sessions will launch tomorrow, Thursday 11th June, and we’ll be building up the fitness levels of youngsters every day as the month progresses!
There will also be opportunities to win exclusive AFC prizes for all those who participate, and sign up for the free AberDNA Junior membership, including the chance to win a visit to your school from an AFC first team player!
Robbie Hedderman, Partnership & Business Development Manager, of AFCCT said: “We are introducing AFCCT PE @ Pittodrie to help families across the North East to start their day on a positive footing.
“We know many families are currently home schooling and, as a parent, I know how challenging this can be. We want to help families to get their kids engaged in some fun workouts to start the day and to support them to check in for school every day online.
“There will be fun home-fitness sessions everyone can do and also some competitions and prizes on offer for those families taking part. This will add another element in our support of families in our community during lockdown.”
Earlier this week, AFCCT announced that 20 schools had signed up as part of their partner school’s programme which uses the power of the AFC brand and the passion for football to re-engage pupils in education across the region.
In the last two years, AFCCT has worked successfully with over 14,000 children through 23 schools and other education projects to reduce absenteeism and lateness, improve pupil health and wellbeing and support their behavioural, emotional, and social needs to raise attainment.
The first PE @ Pittodrie lesson will go live on Thursday 11th June at 8.45am and we are encouraging everyone to share their photos and videos using #StillStandingFree!
