As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and with all football currently suspended, the annual AFC Player of the Year Awards Dinner has been postponed.

Originally planned for Thursday 30th April, the sold-out prestigious black-tie dinner is now scheduled to take place on Thursday 24th September. The event will be hosted at Aberdeen’s event complex, P&J Live, for the first time and will celebrate the outstanding candidates of the 2019/20 season.

Aberdeen FC Commercial Director, Rob Wicks said: “We are disappointed to have to reschedule this event, a highlight in the Club’s event calendar, but there are greater issues we need to deal with as a society at the moment and we must continue to adhere to advice being given by the Government and the NHS so our main priority is to ensure the continued safety of our supporters, players, staff and the wider community.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding, particularly those who have committed to take their table for the new date and look forward to hosting what will be our biggest dinner to date, indeed the biggest dinner in City, later in the year.”

Last year the Red Army voted for Lewis Ferguson’s Goal of the Season, while Joe Lewis won Player of the Year. Voting will open in due course, with all AFC supporters encouraged to back the players who have been their exceptional candidates during the 2019/20 campaign.

All tables purchased for the original date will be valid for the rescheduled event and those and any queries should be directed to commercial@afc.co.uk.
