UPDATE | 26/05/20 – £140K raised for AFCCT through season ticket sales
AFC’s investors have agreed to extend the deadline for their 10% matched donation to the Trust from 30th April to 1st June. With that news we have now set the ambitious target of generating £200,000 through a matched donation, to allow the Trust to continue its vital work in supporting those most in need in our community through the COVID19 crisis.
We appreciate that everyone will have their own difficulties to deal with and are truly thankful for all the contributions which have been made to the Club so far.
COVID-19 Response – #StillStandingFree
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak we quickly marshalled our forces as a club to support the community through our #StillStandingFree campaign. Our message to our city, our region and our supporters is that we have been Standing Free since 1903 and we will be #StillStandingFree at the end of this if we all stick together!
Dons Chairman Dave Cormack added, “I fully appreciate that our supporters have their own challenges at this time but, as the Chairman, it is incumbent on me to appeal to all our Dons fans, partners and sponsors to do what you can to support the Club at this critical time.
“I’ve been heartened by the messages of support I have received from fans asking what they can do to help the Club through this really difficult period.
“I’m hugely encouraged by those still buying season tickets, renewing or subscribing to AberDNA and buying merchandise on-line. This underlines the amazing and loyal support we have from the Red Army. Like you, I love our Club and what we stand for. We are determined to get through this and I am confident we will, if we all stand together.”
AFC Board Donation to AFCCT
Following the success of its #StillStandingFree campaign, Aberdeen Football Club has ramped up its outreach programme with the ambitious goal of contacting 12,000 fans during April and May.
Over 500 Dons’ fans have been bolstered by a phone call from the Club in the last week. Whether from a Club representative, a former player or a first team player, these check‐in calls have been the highlight of the day for elderly fans during the coronavirus imposed lock‐down.
Acknowledging the value of these calls and the deliveries of food and essentials to the most vulnerable in the community, the Club is working even more closely with the AFC Community Trust, to reach as many fans as possible.
To enable the Trust to continue this valuable community outreach programme AFC board directors, have pledged to donate 10% of the total revenues generated by the sale of season tickets, up to 1st June, to the Trust.
Get your name in the programme!
To commemorate the response of the Red Army during this time we will be putting together a limited-edition programme on the #StillStandingFree campaign.
‘The Red Army – #StillStandingFree’ will show the impact of the campaign to support the mental health and wellbeing of the region during unprecedented times. It will include testimonials from those who have been supported by Aberdeen FC Community Trust’s community outreach, thank you messages from the leadership of AFC & AFCCT.
As a heartfelt thank you from the club, the names of every supporter who signed-up for a season ticket for 20/21 by 30th April will be printed in the programme along with all active AberDNA members by the same date. Each 20/21 season ticket holder and AberDNA member* will also receive a free copy of the programme.
*If you do not wish for your name to feature in the programme, please email email@example.com to opt-out.
Season Ticket Information
2020/21 season tickets are available now online 24/7 via afc.co.uk/eTickets or by calling 01224 63 1903 Monday-Friday 10am-5pm.
As a season ticket holder, you can enjoy access to every Ladbrokes Premiership home match, receiving significant saving on matchday prices, from just over £17 per game for adults in the Red Shed.
To help retain existing and attract new season ticket holders prices have been frozen around the ground in our early bird window, with prices also reduced in silver and gold for all U12s to make football more accessible for our youngest supporters. As a result, U12s can attend from just £2.50 per game in silver areas next season!
Thanks to the fantastic support received during our Scottish Cup campaign at Pittodrie we are making the ‘Red Shed’ a permanent feature here at Pittodrie for the 20/21 season.
1,000 non-season ticket holders attended the Red Shed for both matches and it is hoped that introducing it permanently will result in some of those supporters becoming season ticket holders, giving their backing to the side at Pittodrie every week.
Just 1,600 season tickets will be available for the Red Shed and with demand anticipated to be high we encourage you to sign-up now to avoid missing out!
Richard Donald Upper
In addition to the Red Shed becoming a permanent feature next season, the Richard Donald Stand Upper Deck will be closed to help improve the atmosphere.
The RDS Upper, which will only be opened in exceptional circumstances, will be handed over to fans to decorate with a sea of red banners and flags.
Since launching our season ticket sales at the beginning of March, the coronavirus crisis has changed everything. In recognition of that, we pushed back the 4 month payment deadline until end of April and are now able to offer an extension of the 6 month (interest free) and 10 month payment plans to cover the early bird and renewal period.
We will continue to monitor feedback from supporters, alongside what’s happening in the wider football landscape over the coming weeks and make adjustments to deadlines, where we can, whilst balancing the need to bring vital income into the club now.
Spread the Cost
Once again, we are working with V12 Season Ticket Finance to help supporters spread the cost of their season ticket. To help make things easier we are also covering the interest costs for supporters who select the 6 month or 4 month payment options!
10 Monthly Payments – Sign up before 5.30pm on 1st June and you will have the option to spread the cost over 10 months through V12 Season Ticket Finance with a £32 fee.
6 Monthly Payments – Sign up before 5.30pm on 1st June and you will have the option to spread the cost over 6 months. No extra fees as interest costs covered by AFC.
To apply for finance through V12 simply select the finance option on the payment page when purchasing your season ticket. V12 will then contact you by email with full information on how to apply for the monthly payment option.

Last month, in his new role as AFC Chairman, Dave Cormack kicked-off the campaign with a commitment to improving atmosphere and the overall matchday experience for supporters with a view to making Pittodrie everything that it should be in our final few years here.
He said “We’re embarking on a journey towards a more successful and sustainable Club that delivers real value for our fans. We want to re-ignite the passion, belief and pride across the whole Club. This is about nurturing the next generation of fans, inspiring and getting back the lost generation of younger fans and retaining our existing fans through exciting football and a better match-day experience.”
The Dons chairman announced that, in addition to the Red Shed becoming a permanent feature next season, the upper Richard Donald stand will close to help improve the atmosphere. As a result of this, and capacity of the Merkland Stand reducing due to the Red Shed, next season’s capacity at Pittodrie will be 15,500. This includes 1,800 seats for away supporters.
The upper RDS, which will only be opened in exceptional circumstances, will be handed over to fans to decorate with a sea of red banners and flags.
Cormack added: “Our approach to fan engagement began with the trial of the Red Shed, dramatically improving the home atmosphere. With a concerted effort from fans, Pittodrie will once again become our fortress. As well as this reconfiguration, we will trial other pre-match entertainments such as Fan Zones with live music, and activities for children and families in and around the stadium.”
In launching the 2020/21 season ticket campaign, Cormack stressed the importance of season ticket and AberDNA revenues.
He said: “Football success is our number one priority. We are the fifth best supported team in Scotland in terms of attendances and season tickets with the third largest football budget. Season tickets deliver around £2 million a year in income, with walk-ups and away fans contributing £1 million, and AberDNA about £1 million. In total, that’s almost half the football budget.
“We are challenging ourselves to increase season tickets from 10,000 to 11,000 for 2020/21 and drive AberDNA membership to 8,000. My promise is that this income is 100% directed towards the success of the football team.”
