“We have had a few days of recovery and today we are back on the training pitch. All the boys in the changing room are buzzing after scoring a late winner on Tuesday. I think it is the first time it has happened this season.

“It was a game we dominated, so I think we deserved to win. It was really pleasing. So we are all really looking forward to the game tomorrow.

“We need to play with that intensity each week. But we also need the consistency. We need to keep that level of performance going in all the games we play now. It is a tough month with a lot of games, but we still need to bring that level of performance.

“In the second half we hardly let the opposition out of our half. We need to do it for the full 90 minutes though.

“St Mirren will certainly be up for the fight tomorrow. They have had some good results recently. So we are prepared for another very tough afternoon.

“You always have to look after yourself throughout the season, but particularly in December when you have so many games. We have a lot of good professionals here, guys who know the right things to do. So even although we don’t have a lot of fit defenders, the guys who are playing are able to keep going without a problem.

“As a player at this club, everything is taken care of for you. It makes it easy.

“It has been a tough campaign in terms of keeping that consistency, but we know we are capable of going on long winning runs. We have not managed to do that yet, but hopefully we can string a few results together over the next few weeks and go into the winter break on a high.

“It will make Christmas better for us and the fans if we are a bit higher up that table.”
