We are delighted to announce that Tyler Lyon will walk out alongside Graeme Shinnie in Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final against Celtic at Hampden as our mascot.

Tyler, from Aberdeen is a regular attendee at the AFCCT Breakfast Club and helps with the Better Playground Play group in which he and classmates run football sessions for the Primary 4 pupils at Tullos Primary School in Torry. The group have helped move the Primary 4’s into the bigger playground, ensuring they enjoy a safe and fun environment. Tyler has acted as organiser and shown the ability to problem solve as the Primary 4 pupils regularly look to him for assurance and guidance.

Tyler was chosen due to his commitment to the programmes which has helped provide him with excellent leadership and behaviour skills as well as an excellent attendance record.

David Clark of the AFCCT said “Our Partner Schools Initiative has seen Aberdeen FC Community Trust team up with Tullos Primary School in Torry over the last year where we look to improve class engagement, school attendance and health & wellbeing across all 380 pupils. Over the school terms the Community Trust deliver a Breakfast Club aiming to improve attendance and Better Playground Play, where we tackle issues in the playground, focusing on targeted pupils being a positive role model to their peers. Tyler Lyon has maintained a 95% school attendance across two school years, which has impacted on his behaviour and engagement in class.

Last week Tyler and his Dad joined David for a behind the scenes tour of Pittodrie and was presented with his new Aberdeen home strip which he will dawn on Cup Final day alongside his heroes. The youngster was then able to print his own name onto the back of the strip with the number “07” after the year of his birth.

“My favourite player is Graeme Shinnie so i’m very excited to walk out with him for the match. I think Aberdeen will win 2-1”.

Thanks to the support provided by ScotRail, Tyler and his family have been supported to travel to and from Hampden for what will be an experience to remember.

We hope you enjoyed your afternoon at Pittodrie Tyler and we look forward to seeing you before the match on Sunday. Let’s hope your prediction comes true!
