The Vattenfall Award of the Month recognises outstanding commitment to the girls’ game from an individual, whether that be a player, coach or volunteer.

The winner of this award for October is Stuart Bathgate!

Stuart is a coach at Westdyke Community Club, currently coaching within the U11s age group, as well as leading the Club’s senior women’s team.

Mark Strachan, fellow coach at Westdyke was quick to praise the work by his colleague. “Stuart deserves to be awarded due to the hard work and commitment he puts in day to day since he started up the Under 7s age group back in 2016. His energy, enthusiasm and passion for supporting the development of girls within the Club has no end.”

Caro Considine, also a coach at Westdyke, added to this saying “Stuart is dedicated to ensuring that each individual player gets the support and training they need to become the best footballer they can be. It is largely down to him that the girls at Westdyke (old, young and new) gel so well together and it provides for a great team spirit!”

Community Coach & Education Officer at AFCCT, Harley Hamdani, commented “Westdyke are a club that have grown massively in recent years and the number of girls they now have participating on a regular basis is exemplary. Stuart has been key to this and serves as a fantastic role model in the local community.”

This month’s award was presented at the Club’s training session in Westhill, where players, coaches and parents from the Club’s growing U11 age groups attended to celebrate the award.

Congratulations from everyone here at Aberdeen Football Club and Aberdeen FC Community Trust.
