Red Matchday Issue 06 | preview

20 September 2018

In this week’s programme for the Aberdeen v Motherwell game:

Dolly Digital has created another retro masterpiece for the cover, inspired from the AFC programmes of the late 1970s. On the back cover the COYR Cards are the six biggest AFC cult heroes as selected by the fans.

There is an in depth interview with Lewis Ferguson. The young midfielder talks about his career to this point and the influence of his dad.

Shay Logan is the player this week to be put on with spot with 10 Questions. Plus, new interviews with Max Lowe, Dean Campbell and Bruce Anderson.

There are columns from the Manager Derek McInnes, skipper Graeme Shinnie, ex player Stuart Duff and supporter Chris Crighton – to give us a view from the dugout, the dressing room and an opinion from the stands.

We are also delighted and honoured to have Scotland captain Rachel Corsie as one of our columnists this year. Rachel this week gives a personal account of what it felt like the moment she knew Scotland’s women were going to the World Cup Finals for the first ever time.

In our extensive history section there is: the completed story of AFC continued, two weeks in 1989 revisited, just the ticket, picture this are the memory match are from either end of the 70s, Tales of the Unexpected from the AFC Heritage Trust and the Bon Accord newspaper – the one and only almanac for all fans of AFC.

There is a new feature by Derek Giles on Bobby Clark who has very much been in the news recently, with his Hall of Fame induction this November plus the training campus at Kingsford being named in his honour.

Plus the AFC Former Players Interview is with Neil Simpson. The Red Matchday team sat down with Dons legend and Head of Youth Academy to talk about his relationship with Bobby Clark. Neil also looks back at his early career, coming through the ranks at Pittodrie as a youth player and the lessons learned then which are helping him nurture future Aberdeen stars.
