Aberdeen goalkeeper Danny Rogers has this afternoon joined St Mirren on a season long loan.

The 24-year-old signed a new Aberdeen contract at the end of last season and is regarded as a future number one but will join the newly promoted side to get some more experience under his belt.

A new flexibility in the loan regulations allow the club the ability to recall Danny out-with the transfer window.

The Irish goalkeeper has been with The Dons since the age of 17, and has had to be patient for opportunities at Pittodrie. Successful loan spells at Dumbarton and Falkirk have brought plenty of game time.

Then last season Danny returned to the North East as back up keeper to Joe Lewis. He made his long awaited Aberdeen debut on the 24th January 2018, coming on as a substitute for the injured Lewis at Ibrox. Danny then started the subsequent games against Kilmarnock and Ross County, helping the side to claim six points.

Manager Derek McInnes said “The move to St Mirren will offer Danny a real opportunity to gain Premier League experience, something which will be invaluable for his development.”
