The Dons striker spoke to RedTV’s Andrew Shinie at lunchtime.

“Things are been a bit different this week with the game getting called off on Wednesday. We travelled back up and managed to get a couple of good sessions in over the past couple of days at the Sports Village. So, it could have been a lot worse. I am sure there are other teams playing this weekend who have had worse preparation. We are lucky the Sports Village is there.

“We have put the past two defeats to the back of our minds now. The full focus goes onto the job in hand tomorrow. It will be a tough one. Kilmarnock are a team in good form and have done very well ever since their new manager came in.

“It is team who we have had success against so hopefully tomorrow we can get another win and get ourselves into a semi-final which would be great for everyone involved in the club.

“They have not lost many games so the two wins we have had against them might be sticking in their minds. But tomorrow is a cup game, so it is a one off. Mentally we have to treat the game that way. In cup football anything can happen on the day. Our focus needs to be right and we need to be ready to go from the first whistle. Thankfully we have a bit more energy in the legs than we might have done had we played on Wednesday.

“We are fresh and ready to put in a performance.

“Everyone at the club is desperate to do well in this competition, especially after the squad having come so close before. It probably makes all the players even more determined to get back to another final. We know though it will be a tough task getting through this game.

“My memories of winning the Scottish Cup are something that I cherish. Lifting a cup is the highlight of most players careers in Scotland. There are a few boys in the changing room who have won trophies and they know how great a feeling it is.

“It is the same for the supporters. Having seen the photos of the fans at Hampden last season and in our cup games over the years around the staff, you understand what cup football means to them as well.

“A cup run allows the players to give something back to the fans for all the support they give us.

“We take each game as it comes, and that game is Kilmarnock. We will be giving it our all tomorrow and hopefully we can get that result we all want.

“We have to make sure our name is in the hat for the semi-final draw. That is the goal and that is all that matters tomorrow.”
