You can help make Aberdeen For All this Christmas

This summer we asked The Red Army to give their All For Aberdeen and they responded in great numbers with 11,000 season ticket holders signing up for the 1st time on record. In an effort to give something back to the community which supports the club so well the Aberdeen For All supported season ticket initiative was launched in September to provide support to families, children and members of our local community by providing them with season tickets in the Merkland Stand.

To kick-off the campaign the AFC Board provided £50,000 to cover the first 200 season tickets and the great news is that since then we have had donations from over 1000 AFC supporters raising over £10,000! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

To coincide with our mid-season ticket campaign we are now asking for your support once again as we aim to spread some festive cheer and make Aberdeen For All this Christmas!

The contribution that has been made so far has made a real difference to many families around the city and there are many more people who can benefit from this initiative with your support.

One of the key figures in identifying individuals and groups who may be able to benefit from the scheme has been Barry Douglas. Barry has been the AFC Chaplain for six years and is Pastor of Seaton Community Church.

When asked about the impact that the supported season tickets can have Barry responded, “Aberdeen For All gave us 40 tickets to distribute between Seaton and Tillydrone and we have had the incredible privilege of turning up at the doors of certain families that we know that are in real times of hardship and have been able to give a couple of season tickets.

“On one occasion the father was on his own with his children but couldn’t get the opportunity to go and had just hit really really hard times and we were able to give season tickets and the children were jumping up and down, just thrilled and excited.

“The other thing that was positive about it was that it just helped that father have that special time at the weekends with the kids to bond and make great memories with his own children.”

You can make a contribution to the Aberdeen For All fund by making your donation online via the #AberdeenForAll section at afc.co.uk/eTickets now or by calling the Pittodrie Ticket Office on 01224 631903.

Criteria

Aberdeen For All will support Aberdeen FC & Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) as they constantly strive to impact positively on communities and individuals to improve and enhance life choices. The criteria which will be used to identify appropriate recipients will include:

  1. Individuals in the local community who are in need due to a number of reasons such as social exclusion, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
  2. Individuals who receive support from local community groups and are identified as being in need or socially excluded.
  3. Individuals who receive support from charitable and other non-profit organisations in support of defined charitable purposes.
  4. Individuals who are being supported by partners of Aberdeen FC and AFCCT (Such as public sector organisations) to enhance their personal health and wellbeing.

In relation to the above criteria, a primary consideration is to provide regular access to football matches to person(s) who would otherwise be unable to attend. The tickets will only be issued to individuals who are committed and able to attend matches at Pittodrie on a regular basis.
