Defender Shay Logan previewed the Motherwell game on Saturday with afc.co.uk

“It is always a difficult fixture at Hamilton. They did well to get back into the game but we feel we should have held out.

“Over the last four years whilst I have been here, we have not lost too many late goals or lost goals after going in front. It has not happen too often. It is a horrible feeling when it does happen.

“Far more often we have scored late goals. So at Hamilton to score quite late on and then to concede straight away was hugely frustrating but we still got a point and we move on.

“We have a strong backline. Scott McKenna has come in and done tremendously well and his size has been a real asset. Kari has also come into the side. His experience has helped us. He is so good at reading the game. We have now got a good understanding and we still have a great goalkeeper behind us.

“As a defensive unit we know what we need to do to win games.

“Kari is very funny. He has the strangest accent! I have got on very well with him since he arrived. He is a good guy to have in that changing room. His football story is really interesting. He did not come into the game until quite late so that is why he still looks so young! He is a good character. On the pitch he is a good communicator and will tell me when I need to pull in. He is such a calm player. We work well together.

“I don’t mind the period we are entering into with a lot of fixtures between now and the winter break. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the international breaks so I can spend more time with the family but from a playing point of view I like the games coming thick and fast. A game every three or four days is not a problem for me. It is something I am used to from my days in England.

“We know how important a spell it is. We play Rangers twice, Celtic, Hibs and Hearts. There are a lot of good games and if we do well over the next two months it will set us for the second half of the season. November and December is when you want to really pick up as many points as possible. It will have a bearing on where we end up at the end of the season.

“During my time here, we have played well during this spell. I think a reason for that is how well the manager has managed the situation. He manages the training well, he manages the rest well. He freshens the team up when he has to. He deserves a lot of credit along with all his coaching staff. Graham Kirk our Sports Scientist has a big part to play in it as well. He knows when the boys are flagging and when maybe they need an extra day off or when we need to increase the intensity in training. The coaching staff all work well together.

“Saturday will be a difficult game. Motherwell are doing really well at the moment. The way they set it up, it will be tough but we are in our own backyard and we always believe we can beat anyone here if we play to anywhere near the levels we are capable of.

“I am looking forward to it. Everyone is ready for it and everyone is chomping at the bit to get back into action.”
