Over 35s Denis Law Cup

30 June 2017

Well done to everyone who participated in the over 35s Denis Law Cup this month.

Aberdeen FC Community Trust was delighted to have worked in partnership with SFA North Region, Aberdeen Sports Village and Denis Law Legacy Trust, with sponsorship from MARS, to make this exciting sporting event happen.

The tournament had been running at Aberdeen Sports Village over the last few weeks and attracted more than 90 players to take part.

After all the teams participated in the groups stages, the league table was then spilt in half with the top 4 team competing for the Dens Law Cup.

The remaining 5 teams competed for the Denis Law Shield.

After a very exciting Finals night, the winners of the Denis Law Cup, MOT, secured the trophy and a prize of corporate matchday hospitality for the opening Aberdeen FC Europa League match at Pittodrie, with a last-minute winning goal against Keith Lemons.

It was Whacky Blackie who won the Shield trophy and a prize of 10 match tickets for the AFC Europa League match, with a penalty shoot-out win over Auldstars.

The winners were presented with their trophies on the night by former Aberdeen FC player Derek Young.

After such a successful few weeks, all partners hope to make this an annual event after such positive feedback surrounding the tournament.
