Dundee Pre Match | Graeme Shinnie

30 March 2017

Graeme Shinnie was the player who previewed the Dons game against Dundee on Friday night with the media. He was first of all asked about his thoughts on the Dons new signing today.

“Greg is a very talented footballer, I spent a lot of time with him up in Inverness, he was there for a period when I was young and then he left and came back again. Adding another Scottish cup winner to the team is always handy, something I can banter about with the rest of the boys. He is a great player and is showing that now, he can score goals, he is a good passer of the ball, he’ll get about the pitch and that’s something we could do with.

“I played mostly left back when I was up in Inverness and a couple of times in the middle with Greg and he was getting about, covering me at times and he’s always a player that you know you could get the ball off, he’s got a range of passing skills, when I was playing at left back I knew he could switch it and find me out on the far left. He is a great signing for the club and I’m sure he will look to do well with his time left at Inverness and then get going here next season.

“He’ll be in his prime and will be looking to keeping doing what he has shown in this league before and he’ll help the squad out massively and be a good acquisition.

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow night’s game, the international break maybe came at the wrong time when we were in a good vein of form so it will just be about trying to get back to where we left off and try and win the game.

“At this stage of the season teams are always fighting for something no matter where you are, always trying to get higher up the league or clear of relegation or like us trying to get as far ahead in second place as we can so we know Dundee will be organised trying to cause us problems but like I said we have been in a good vein of form so we’ll try and carry that on and it should be a good game.

“Celtic are out with anything we are thinking about, we’re focused on ourselves and it’s a massive game for us to pick up where we left off. This is a time in the season where wins are vital for us so all focus will be on us and going down to Dundee and getting a win.

“As I said the international break maybe came at the wrong time although saying that it was great to get a bit of time to recuperate and the boys have used the time well and come back looking fresh as ever so we just need to carry on from where we were. It’s a great game to come back to and I heard the pitch is looking great down there which will suit us very well so everyone is looking forward to it in the squad and it should be a good game.

“Dundee have given Celtic a hard time, they’ve beaten Rangers and there are no easy games in this league, we know that, we went down to Hamilton and got beat so we know we can’t take our foot off the gas. The training has been sharper than ever this week, the boys have been looking good and are looking forward to the game so it should be a good one and we’ll be looking to win.

“We’ve had games where we’ve changed formation, we’ve changed personnel and the squad is massive, we’ve got players coming off the bench and scoring, there are plenty of players there to change the game and that’s the good thing about this squad, whoever the manger picks of Friday, the ones who haven’t been picked will support the boys who are playing and will have a point to prove if they come on.”
