Graeme Shinnie | "a good performance again"

24 December 2016

Graeme Shinnie put in a superb performance this evening in the middle of the park. After the game he spoke to RedTV alongside Jonny Hayes:

“That goal was long overdue!

“I think my last goals against Kilmarnock last season not long after I had joined. So it was good to get on the scoresheet.

“It was a good ball from Jonny who saw that I was in space. I had a lot of time to pass it into the net which thankfully I did.

“It was a good three points.

“A good performance again. It has been frustrating recently. I don’t think performances have been that bad. Tonight was another good performance and we deserved the win.

“Joe’s penalty save was a big moment in the game. He has been doing that all season for us. It is good to know that he is behind us and the presence that he has got is always there. He showed that with the save. To be fair the boys got back (to deal with the rebound) and got a good few blocks in and we eventually got in cleared.

“It was a great game of football and the boys played well. The conditions actually were not that bad to be fair. The wind was not too bad. When we were in the hotel during the day it did not look great but credit to the ground staff here. The pitch was immaculate.

“In the second half we were winning so we did not need to go and press for a goal. We were able to hit on the break and that suited us. It was very pleasing when Niall killed it off at the end.”
