ROADSIDE VEHICLE CHECKS

In Scotland, it is an offence to possess or consume alcohol on board a public service vehicle, or a railway vehicle which is attending a designated sporting event. The legislation in relation to this is stated within section 19 of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995.

Police officers will carry out roadside vehicle checks at numerous locations prior to this event.

Supporters’ coaches and vehicles may be stopped at these locations and could be subject of a thorough search
to ensure this legislation is being complied with.

COACHES

Police Scotland recommended routes for coaches attending this event are detailed below.  Any deviation from these routes may resort in increased traffic congestion adding to your inconvenience.

Coaches without car park passes will be required to park in the Queen’s Drive area.  Please be guided by Police Scotland.

PRE EVENT ROUTES FOR ABERDEEN SUPPORTERS APPROACHING THE WEST OF THE STADIUM

M8 Westbound: Exit the M8 at Junction 22 and join the M77. Leave the M77 at Junction 1, Dumbreck Road, turn left onto Dumbreck Road and continue until the junction with Titwood Road (Important: high vehicles such as double deck buses – turn right, Haggs Road, turn left Shawmoss Road, turn right Titwood Road) continue Titwood Road. Turn right onto Minard Road, continue onto Langside Avenue to the roundabout (Monument). Take the second exit at the roundabout onto Battlefield Road, continue on Battlefield Road to the first traffic light junction and bear right remaining on Battlefield Road to the ‘T’ junction with Cathcart Road.  Turn left onto Cathcart Road and take the immediate right onto Letherby Drive, where your coach will be directed to park.

A vehicle pass will be required for entry; coaches without a pass will be directed to park on Battlefield Road, Grange Road, Langside Road or Queens Drive.

M80 Southbound: Join M8 Westbound and continue as above.

M74 Northbound: Continue from the M74 onto the M73 and thereafter onto the M8 Westbound and continue as above.

M8 Eastbound: Exit at Junction 24, Helen Street, turn left onto Helen Street, continue to the roundabout and turn right onto Edmiston Drive at the next roundabout turn right onto Broomloan Road, continue through the junction onto Dumbreck Road and continue as above.

A77/M77 Northbound: Exit at Junction 1, Dumbreck Road, turn right and continue as above.

Blue Car Park Pass Holders: Follow the directions for M8 Westbound, after turning left onto Cathcart Road take the next right onto Letherby Drive, Cross Carmunnock Road and into Blue Car Park.

Please note that after inspection it has been decided to close Queen Park Recreation Ground to the public until further notice.

POST EVENT ROUTES EXITING FROM THE WEST OF THE STADIUM

After the event, vehicles should follow the reverse of the above routes where possible.

AT THE STADIUM

All fans attending the Aberdeen v Celtic Betfred Cup Final, should note that enhanced search arrangements will be in place at this fixture. This additional safety measure has the potential to delay entry into the ground so fans are strongly encouraged to get to the stadium as early as possible.

There are no cash turnstiles.
Turnstiles will be open 1 ½ hours before kick-off i.e. 1.30pm.
Clubs are reminded that this is a neutral venue and as such they will be held responsible to repair or pay for any damage caused by their supporters.
Supporters are reminded about no alcohol on buses, attempting to gain entry whilst drunk and no pyrotechnic devices are to be set off. Thank you.

UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT MESSAGE FROM SPFL

The Scottish Professional Football League will not tolerate unacceptable conduct at Hampden Park.

Unacceptable conduct is conduct which is violent or disorderly.  Violent conduct includes any actual, attempted or threatened physical violence against any person, or intentional damage to property. Disorderly conduct includes: Conduct which stirs up or sustains, or is likely or is designed to stir up or sustain, hatred or ill will against or towards individuals or groups of people based on their membership of presumed membership of the following categories:

•    Gender, colour, race, nationality or ethnic or national origin
•    Membership, or presumed membership, of a religious group or of a social or cultural group with perceived religious affiliation
•    Sexual orientation
•    Transgender identity
•    Disability
•    Or against an individual who is or is presumed to be a member of such group using threatening, abusive or insulting words or conduct; displaying writing or any other thing which is threatening, abusive or insulting; using words or conduct or displaying any writing or other thing which indicates support for, or affiliation to, or celebration of, or opposition to an organisation or group proscribed in terms of the Terrorism Act 2000.

“Presumed” above means presumed by the person or persons engaged in the conduct.
“Religious group” above means a group of persons defined by reference to their religious belief or lack of religious belief, membership of or adherence to a church or religious organisation, support for the culture and traditions of a church or religious organisation and/or participation in activities associated with such a culture or such traditions.
“Transgender identity” means any one or more of transvestism, transsexualism, inter-sexuality or change of gender.
“Disability” means physical or mental impairment of any kind.
Any person engaging in unacceptable conduct may be subject to removal from the Stadium, report to the police and possible criminal proceedings.

Spectators attending events at Hampden Park should be aware that the area around the stadium is mainly residential and an Event Day Parking Zone operates around the stadium. This restricts parking to Resident’s Parking Permit holders and the specified times/dates are displayed on ‘Zone Entry’ signs.

On event days, Police Scotland would advise spectators to use public transport to get to the stadium, if not travelling by organised coaches/buses. There is NO public parking in the vicinity of the stadium.
