Statoil April Award Winners

11 May 2016

Statoil is the exclusive Aberdeen Football Club ‘Talent Partner’ with the emphasis specifically on the future development of elite youth players through the AFC Youth Academy. The Statoil “Heroes of Tomorrow” sponsorship concept supports talented young people, not just in sport but also in culture and education to help them achieve their ambitions. The Statoil Young Talent and Talent of the Month awards are awarded to players who show an exceptionally high standard of talent during academy training sessions and matches at club and international level

Dylan Lobban is the winner of the Statoil Young Talent of the Month Award for April.  Under 11 player Dylan has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic in recent months and for a young player has begun to show good signs of being a leader on the pitch.  He has continued to show improvement in his technical ability and has showed further improvement in both training and matches and during April he played every minute of every game.  One of Dylan’s highlights for the month of April was scoring the opening goal in the away fixture at Southampton FC.  Head of Academy Coaching, Gavin Levey praised Dylan’s efforts by saying ‘Dylan’s really kicked on this season and has shown the determination and desire to practice that we all saw when he joined the club’s Academy development programme at 8 years old.  He deserves credit for finishing the season so strong and this award reflects his hard work and effort that has seen him perform at the highest level in some of the most challenging matches.'

David Dangana is the Statoil Talent of the Month for April.  David's performances over this period were excellent and saw him score six goals for the U17s including two against Celtic. He also made three appearances for the U20 squad during April. Head of Youth Neil Simpson feels David has been a consistent performer all season but during this month he has raised his game to a new level. His strengths are his passing and first touch but he has added goals to his attributes. David's performances this season have seen him rewarded with a full time contract at Pittodrie next season.  The Academy graduate will commence pre-season training with the new Under 20's squad in June.
