Club Statement regarding Pittodrie pitch

31 December 2015

Aberdeen Football Club is extremely disappointed that certain media outlets have elected to infer that the Pittodrie playing surface was the reason for last night's goalless draw with Partick Thistle.

While the manager did admit that the pitch was soft and not ideal for flowing football, he also praised the groundstaff for managing to get the game on at all, given the horrendous weather conditions experienced in the area in the build-up to the match and also said conditions were the same for both ourselves and Partick.

The Dons are one of only a few clubs in the SPFL Premiership not to have had a home postponement this season due to the condition of the pitch. With two home matches during the festive period, Head Groundsman Paul Fiske and his staff have worked tirelessly around the clock to ensure that our matches went ahead as scheduled and the Club is very appreciative of this dedicated service, particularly when the elements were very much against them.
