Community Club Project hosts Bayside Bullets

25 February 2015

A grassroots football team from Fife were the guests of AFCCT this weekend as they played a friendly match against a local grassroots club before attending the Aberdeen game on Saturday.

Bayside Bullets made the trip up north as their coach Lee Morris, and son Kian who plays for Bayside, are both season ticket holders in the Richard Donald Stand, and run a supporters bus to home games.

Cove Youth FC, who take part in the McDonald’s Community Club Project ran by AFCCT, the SFA and Aberdeen City Council hosted Bayside Bullets to play a friendly fixture against Cove 2005s at the Aberdeen Sports Village, before heading round to Pittodrie to see Aberdeen defeat St. Mirren 3-0.

Cove and Bayside warmed up for the game together, promoting positive behaviour throughout the warm up, following the Positive Coaching Scotland guidelines. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the warm up and game, which was an excellent display of football.

Scottish FA Club Development Officer Liam Duncan, who runs the McDonalds Community Club Project working alongside Cove Youth FC oversaw the day, which was a fantastic success. Liam said: “It was fantastic to see both Cove and Bayside players enjoying the day. The behaviour of both teams was fantastic, and the respect from both sets of players was exemplary. The game itself was played in the right manner, and was a closely fought game, with both teams playing excellent football.

“It is great that Bayside came all the way up from Fife, and also my thanks go to Cove for hosting the game. It was fantastic to see all the players at Pittodrie for the Aberdeen game bonding, and with Aberdeen getting the victory it just topped off the already excellent day.”
