Connor keeps Dons victory shield run going

31 October 2014

The Dons fine record in supplying players for the Victory Shield squads through the years has continued with the selection of forward Connor McLennan in the squad for Friday night’s clash with Northern Ireland at New St. Mirren Park.

And it’s a proud moment for the Peterhead Academy pupil, who has just turned 15, to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ryan Jack, Fraser Fyvie, Jack Grimmer and Cammy Smith, and more recently Michael Kelly, Richie Petrie, Frank Ross, Aaron Norris and Daniel Harvie.

“It’s definitely the highlight of my football career so far and, of course, Aaron was also at Peterhead Academy, which is great for the school.”

Connor, who can play in midfield or as a striker, comes from a Dons mad family and says it’s his dream to eventually play for the Pittodrie first team. “Obviously guys like Ryan and Cammy have shown it can be done and that’s what I’d love to do. I’ve been with Aberdeen since I was 8 and currently play for the 17’s under coaches Colin Walker and Scott Anderson. It’ll be great playing at a Premiership stadium and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be involved.”
