Fundraising through football scheme kicks off for another season

28 August 2014

Following continued success, Aberdeen FC is once again inviting local youngsters to enjoy a day out at Pittodrie with a difference, thanks to our fundraising through football scheme, generously supported by CNR International (UK) Ltd.

Over 4,000 Dons daft youngsters have participated in the scheme which offers non-profit organisations, schools and youth groups the chance to enjoy a VIP match-day experience at Pittodrie while raising funds which can be reinvested back in to the organisation.

And this season we’re offering any group which brings along more than 100 people to a match a signed AFC shirt as well as the chance to win a visit from a first team player.

Supporting an initiative which gives something back to the local community is at the heart of the ethos at CNR International (UK) Limited as Vice President, Finance, Barry Duncan, commented.

“CNR International is delighted to be sponsoring the Dons Day Out for a third consecutive season, especially at a time where there is real enthusiasm about the club. The initiative fits well with our core principle of being an excellent corporate citizen, in that it allows us to support an organisation at the heart of the local community, whilst also providing an opportunity for local children to enjoy a memorable day out at Pittodrie while raising funds for their school or club. We are also delighted that Scott Brown has agreed to be the club’s Ambassador for the initiative.

Since becoming the sponsor of this initiative, almost 4,000 young people have enjoyed a Dons Day Out and, in doing so, have raised over £25,000 for their school or club, which is a fantastic result. We hope that this season will be hugely successful for both the club and for the Dons Day Out initiative.”

Dons Day Out gives non-profit organisations the chance to receive cash-back on tickets for selected SPFL matches at Pittodrie and we are pleased to confirm all Celtic games will now be included in the initiative. All funds raised can then be re-invested back in to your organisation.

And for all those Dons daft youngsters out there – why not kick off your birthday celebrations with an extra special Dons Day Out at Pittodrie, while helping to raise funds for your school.

Every Dons Day Out participant will receive an exclusive Dons Day Out t-shirt as well as have their photograph taken in the Merkland Family stand with Angus the Bull – a great souvenir of their day out.

As Dons Day Out Ambassador, goalkeeper Scott Brown is delighted to show his support to a project which actively introduces local youngsters to the live football experience.

“When I was approached at the start of the season to become Dons Day Out Ambassador I was proud to be able to give my backing to a scheme which encourages youngsters to come along to Pittodrie and get behind their local team.

It's always great to see Pittodrie brimming with youngsters on a match-day and Dons Day Out is a fantastic way of allowing kids to enjoy the thrills and spills of ninety minutes in the SPL while at the same time generating vital funds for their organisation.”
