Derek McInnes gave his reaction to the media after The Dons’ 2-0 victory in Ayrshire

“It was a far more familiar performance from us tonight.

“We restricted Kilmarnock to very little, apart from a few shots from distance. We were far more energetic tonight, far more organised, far tidier. We were nice and compact and never got stretched at any point.

“At half time I was just looking for a bit more quality from us in the final third. I thought we passed up some good opportunities with the final ball going astray or not shooting when we could have. We got quality with the second goal. It was a great ball by Niall and a really good header by Ryan.

“To come away from a venue like this with the three points and a clean sheet is very pleasing.

“Last season when we lost a game we always got a response from the players and we got it again tonight.

“I thought Taylor played very well tonight. He did well on Sunday after making the mistake and he did well again tonight. He gives us a presence.

“I said before the game I would have preferred the pitch to be grass but the club have thought long and hard about it before installing and they have their reasons for it and it is the way more clubs are going to go in the future. The pitch was a bit dry so when the rain came on it helped both teams. The passing became slicker. Apart from that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Both sets of players got used to it.”
