The Managers Pre Match Media Conference:

“It is going to be a tough game. Our full focus and concentration will be needed.

“We had a 0-0 here, won 2-0 down there but both games were very tight. We played the semi final not so long ago and I felt that day St Johnstone played very well. I thought the scoreline was very harsh on them. They had a brilliant result during the week against Motherwell when they won 3-0, we watch the game on tape and it as a convincing victory.

“The result did not surprise me though. St Johnstone have a good manager and a good squad there. The points that are up for grabs are as important for them as they are for us.

“I think it is important we try and take confidence from beating Celtic the other night. The boys are in good spirits as you would imagine from that. It is important with the next two weeks being cup business that we finish the current league run with a win and make sure the three points stay in Aberdeen.

“To do that we are going to have to play well, we are doing to have to play at the level we are capable of. If we don’t do that it will be a very difficult afternoon. St Johnstone have players who can hurt us if we don’t reach those levels.

“I have a lot of respect for St Johnstone and their players.

“I am not sure if they will be looking for revenge after the semi final tomorrow, you would need to ask them. I am sure though they will have plenty of motivation to win the game to help them get into the top six. A lot of their players are used to being in the top six and they will want to make sure they get there again.

“Our players have been very consistent over the past few months apart the lose against Thistle last week. In the main it is difficult to criticise them in any way. If we can keep that consistency until the end of the season then I am sure we will finish high up the table and we will be pleased with our efforts. The challenge for us is to keep doing that.

“I think the supporters believe in the team and that is the most pleasing thing for me this season.

“There is togetherness and a bond between the players and supporters. To keep them coming we have to keep performing though.

“The latest team news is that Clark Robertson is still a bit away, Ryan Jack is making good progress and hopefully he will be back involved sooner rather than later. He is working well with the physio’s and we are pleased. Young Craig Murray has a problem with his groin and Craig Storie is out for a while.”
