ABERDEEN SPORTS VILLAGETUESDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2013

A young Aberdeen XI recorded a 4-2 victory over Melbourne Football Stars at the Aberdeen Sports Village on Tuesday.

Ex Don George Campbell , now based in Australia and his touring team are always welcome visitors for this annual fixture.

Aberdeen took the lead in 12 minutes when MARCUS CAMPANILE climbed highest in a crowded penalty area to nod home a Jamie Buglass corner.

CRAIG DUGUID then increased the home sides lead in 30 minutes with a stunning, curling free kick from the edge of the box.

Right on half time Aberdeen gave the ball away on the half way line and were duly punished. Left winger ANSAF YOUSIF sped into the penalty area after a 50 yard run and despatched the ball into the corner of the net to reduce the deficit.

HALF TIME 2-1

Aberdeen made 3 changes at the start of the 2 nd half and were holding there own against their slightly older opponents until 60 minutes on the clock.

LEWIS SMIRLIS latched on to a through ball , rounded goalkeeper SCOTT BURNS and levelled the score at 2-2.

It looked as if the older , physical Australian visitors would go on and win the match but that is not how it turned out.

With 6 minutes left firstly BRUCE ANDERSON got on the end of a right wing cross from SAM ROBERTSON and nodded the Dons back into the lead 3-2.

Then right on the final whistle MICHAEL JONES diverted a MATTHEW McMAHON shot into the Aussies net to complete the scoring.
