Dons Pre Season | Derek Mcinnes Quotes

concern for Chris Clark

The manager spoke to RedWeb after the game and was understandably concerned about the injury to Chris Clark.

“At the moment it does not look great. It is too early to speculate but he has clearly done something that was serious enough for him to go down early.

“It is far from ideal as you do not want to be picking up injuries at this stage of the season. I have been trying Chris at full back because I think he can play there but also because we are a bit short of defenders and his injury does not help matters.

“Our thoughts though at the moment are just with Chris and let’s just hope it is better news than we maybe think.

“All the young boys played their part tonight. It has been difficult for them as they have not had much football yet. That was the first 90 minutes for a lot of them. What really pleased me was the way we reacted after losing a poor goal. For such a young team that was encouraging. We showed a lot of composure not to let that affect us. We showed a lot of poise and kept passing the ball.

“Some of the goals were good. Scott Vernon’s one before half time came from a terrific cross from Craig Storie. Both Nicky Low and Storie landed up playing out of position so we had two young midfielders at full back and a 16 year old making his debut in central defence. Scott McKenna strolled through the game and showed a real composure, intelligence and maturity. So they all played their part and can be pleased with their nights work.

“Nicky scored a good goal. He has level of quality in him. He is a very popular boy about the club. He has now got two goals in pre-season so good on him.”

The manager confirmed that a more senior team will play on Saturday against Shelbourne.
