Barry Robson Media Conference On Redtv

27 June 2013

‘it is a privilege to play for a club like this’

Barry was introduced to the media at lunchtime today. The Dons midfielder told RedTV:

“First and foremost it is a privilege to be back in Scotland and playing for such a great club. It has been great the last few days meeting all the days, getting out on the training pitch and putting the new kit on. I have been looking forward to that all summer.

“It is privilege to play for a club like this. I have always seen it as a big club and it has always been a big club. We have a top manager and coaching staff in place and the club is very professionally run and that is a big attraction for me.

“When I looked around the dressing room today it looked quite exciting.

“There are some terrific young players here and also a few experienced heads. There are also a few ‘middle aged’ players as well – those in between the youngsters and the old boys so there is a good mixture. For the team to be successful the young boys are going to have to be at their best and therefore going to have to work very hard.

“I want to come here and help the team and do as well as I can.

“The manager has managed to freshen the squad up and as you can see he has taken in some terrific players. Hopefully we can mould and gel and go on and get a bit of success. There is a lot of hard work ahead of us though and we all know that. Nothing happens for you in this game unless you work hard. We are all prepared for that and all the boys have come back in great shape and we are all looking forward to the journey that is ahead of us.

“I have won a couple of things in my career and I would love to win something here. I know it is something that the fans and the city have missed. You can’t promise that; but you can promise there will be a lot of hard work to try and achieve success. Hopefully we can also be an exciting team and a good team to watch.”

“This is a great place to play. I have been fortunate enough to come here and play in front of big attendances and it is a special place. I know a lot of people do not have a lot of money at the moment due to the economic climate and football is expensive so it is up to us to put a great product on the park to try and get the fans back through the gates.”
