Afc Youth Academy | Dons On The Hunt

31 January 2013

for new scouts

With the developing of young talent the major way forward for most clubs in the country, Aberdeen Football Club is looking to expand its scouting network within the north east with the recruitment of additional part time scouts in no fewer than seven areas namely Moray, North East Aberdeenshire, North West Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City North, Aberdeen City South, South Aberdeenshire and Angus.

Head of AFC’s Youth Academy Neil Simpson explains the rationale behind the initiative. “The Dons have a great reputation in terms of leading the way in the development of young talent and talent identification is probably the most important aspect of that pathway. AFC is in the fortunate position of being the only senior club in the region which has the prestigious Club Academy Scotland elite status and by expanding our scouting team, we will give ourselves the best opportunity to identify youngsters from our local territory as early as possible and give them the best opportunity to integrate them into our vision and development model.

“We are looking to recruit scouts from Angus through to Moray, including all areas in between, who would be responsible for scouting boys from under 9 to under 17 and we’ll welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals with experience of local football, a good work ethic, good communication skills and who are IT literate. In addition, as an integral part of the ‘AFC family’, we would be looking for our scouts to act as ambassadors when they are representing this club in what is an extremely important role.”

Anyone interested in applying should, in the initial stage, contact jobs@afc.co.uk detailing experience in football and providing two references.
