Aberdeen Football Club Heritage Trust Looking Forward to the PastAFC Heritage Trust

Aberdeen FC is over 110 years old, is regarded as a vital part of the NE Scotland community and held in affection by thousands of fans in both the immediate area and across the globe.

Dons' fans are rightly proud of the Club's heritage and although much of the Club's former archive was destroyed in the 1971 fire, a considerable volume of historical material still exists within the Club and community.

Whilst the Club itself continues to look forward into the future, the AFC Heritage Trust is around to ensure that the Club's heritage and archive materials are managed appropriately, are publicised and made available to interested parties. This includes raising funds to preserve and improve the collection of heritage materials, managing donations or loans of privately-held material, supporting heritage displays and events throughout the community and ultimately, the creation of a heritage museum and learning centre within the mooted new stadium. Anyone who wishes to learn more or to help in any way can visit our website at: www.afcheritage.org or Email us at feedback@afcheritage.org.

The Trust is independent of Aberdeen Football Club and is managed by a team of Trustees each of whom has a strong affinity with the Club's heritage. A dedicated and hardworking band of volunteers is always working away at researching heritage topics and adding considerably to the knowledge bank of the Club's history. Over and above this the Aberdeen Collection is steadily growing and many important AFC related artefacts have been unearthed in recent times and conserved for the long term benefit of the Club and the Red Army.

WW1 Memorial Event - 11th November

This event sponsored by the Trust was inspired by the Club's AGM of 1920 where the names of 33 players and staff who served in the Great War were read out. Now every year on Armistice Day at Pittodrie Stadium we have a ceremony at a memorial to the players and staff of Aberdeen FC who were killed in the Great War of 1914-1918 and in the Second World War. This event takes place in the Ground floor concourse of the Richard Donald Stand, on Wednesday 11th November. For more information about the event click here.
