A stoppage-time header by skipper Andrew Considine against Queen of the South clinched a Scottish Cup quarter-final spot for the Dons at Motherwell.
Aberdeen dominated the opening spell and they were rewarded with the opening goal in the 21st minute when a Vernon effort was blocked and Fyvie was on hand to score. Hughes then fired a blistering shot inches wide before Vernon forced a fine save from Robinson. Nigerian Uchechi made an earlier than expected debut when Mitch Megginson was forced to limp off in the 39th minute. There was no further scoring, but the Dons are in control at this stage and the fans will be looking to see what Uchechi offers in the second half.
Queens started the second half well and they levelled in controversial circumstances when the officials ruled that a ball coming off Mawene's knee on to his arm was a penalty. Not only a penalty, but also a yellow card. Harsh doesn't describe it, but McGuffie sent Brown the wrong way to equalise. Minutes later Clark crashed an effort off the bar as the home side brimmed with confidence. Three minutes from time McArdle was bundled to the ground inside the box as he went to head for goal, but referee Muir was not interested. Then deep into injury time Arnason played in a superb cross to the back post and Andrew Considine headed past the keeper to win the match for the Dons.
Craig Brown confirmed after the game that Ryan Jack had been left out of the squad for disciplinary reasons on a football matter. The player will return to the squad against St Johnstone on Sunday.

Aberdeen: Brown, McArdle, Reynolds, Considine, Mawene, Arnason, Megginson, Hughes, Fyvie, Vernon, Fallon.
