Kari Arnason on RedTV
Kari Arnason was this morning recalled to the Icelandic national side. After hearing the news he spoke to Red TV.
Kari today told Red TV. "I got a call on Thursday and was told the news. I was obviously happy. Iceland have appointed a new manager recently. He is Lars Lagerbäck, the old Swedish International manager. It was a very good decision to appoint him. The best decision the football association in Iceland have made for a long time.
"I am not just saying that because he picked me. I would be saying that anyway. He is the right choice given what he has accomplished with Sweden and at club level.
"I was looking over the squad the other day and it is decent. It is quite a young squad, I am one of the older ones there. The Icelandic national team has been on a bad run recently so hopefully with the new manager our fortunes can turn around."
Kari was suspended at the weekend for the game in Edinburgh against Hibs. Thankfully he returns to the side tomorrow for the Scottish Cup replay against Queen of the South.
"It is going to be a difficult game. We are going to have to keep our composure. Our defence has been looking solid so we have to get people forward to support our strikers to try and score early doors. But if we don't score early on we have to keep our composure and be patient and not panic. We do want to win the game in 90 minutes though. Not let the tie go to penalties.
"The pitch at this time of year might not be the best, we will have to wait and see, but we still have to try and play football.
"Last time the big lad (Sam) Parkin caused us problems. Not just in the box, he kept flicking the ball on so they could clear their lines and get organised defensively. The key is for us to get the ball down and keep the ball at all times.
"There is nothing preventing us winning this game except for our own excuses. We can make excuses afterwards if we don't get a result but it is two teams playing on the same pitch and we should have the stronger side.
Kari also revealed he could still be a Dons player next season. "I love it at Aberdeen but unfortunately the negations have come to a halt. That is not to say we won't negotiate again. It is one of the best clubs I have been at, if not the best club, in terms of how the club is run and the fans."
