Mark McGhee did his press preview today and spoke to RedTV.

"This is the one we all want to be involved in. Rangers are going for the title so the atmosphere will be buzzing and it is a great place to go and play.

"We will look back on what we have done this season against Rangers (unbeaten in two games) and will be satisfied, but what is more important is how we are playing now.

"(On not having won at Ibrox since 1991) Each game comes in isolation, each time you go there under different circumstances. At this moment we are not exactly going there as favourites. We're not going there thinking we should win but I always think we can win and there is enough in this team to go and get a victory.

"Nothing surprises me about Walter Smith, he is the top man is Scotland by a stretch. His experience and his record is way above everyone else's. It hasn't surprised me at all that he has done what he's done this season.

"I think Walter is subject to a lot of what is going on at Rangers at the moment. I think if people at Rangers make him feel wanted then he'll want to stay there.

"The fact is that we are where we are in the league, I'm glad we're nine points off the bottom and I wish we were more.

"I don't believe we'll be relegated but I do believe that we're going to have to start getting a result or two, and were going to have to become more resilient. We will be coming in to the bottom six as a team who are viewed as a soft target.

"I felt that Kilmarnock won the game on Sunday because once they got the goal they were more committed than us to go on and get the win. We were fine at 0-0 and probably looked like the most likely team to score.

"What I've said to them is that until we have the points in the bag there are going to be games like that.

"It might be on Saturday, it might be tomorrow night that we go behind, and if we don't have the character and desire to come back from that then what are we saying? That unless we get the first goal we can't win a football match? That is unacceptable and we need to overcome that.

"We know the strengths and weaknesses of our team and of other teams around us and we know that on our day we can beat everyone.

Steven MacLean is back from suspension, Gary McDonald, Andrew Considine and Peter Pawlett miss out.

Aberdeen v Rangers - THE HISTORY by Kevin Stirling

A generation of Aberdeen supporters have never seen their side win at Ibrox. The Dons last well-documented success in September 1991 has meant that the Dons Ibrox record is now very much a poor one. Despite that Aberdeen have 12 Premier League wins in Glasgow since 1975; a record only bettered by Old Firm rivals Celtic. All of those wins came in a 13-year period. The Dons first Premier win over Rangers at Ibrox came in March 1978 when the Dons 3-0 win began an impressive era for the Dons at Ibrox. That record is all the more incredible as Aberdeen only managed 11 league wins at Ibrox between 1905-1974 in the days before the Premier League. In previous meetings. Aberdeen have remained undefeated at Ibrox in both league meetings oneight occasions in 1979.80, 1981.82, 1983.84, 1984.85, 1985.86, 1987.88, 1991.92 and 2005.06.

Looking further back Aberdeen first won at Ibrox in the 1910.11 season in a 4-2 win and although the Dons record win at Ibrox is a 3-0 win, achieved on three occasions, Aberdeen also scored four goals in another 4-2 success in 1961. In April 1968 a remarkable day in Scottish football ended with Aberdeen qualifying for European football following a sensational 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox. On that same day Dunfermline won the Scottish Cup, confirming the Dons participation in next season's Inter Cities Fairs Cup. What was all the more incredible was the Dons winner came from Ian Taylor in the last minute; that win was Rangers first and only defeat all season but was enough to hand the title to Celtic.
