Aberdeen manager Steve Paterson has announced the names of the players who are available for transfer or loan during the current transfer window that is open until the end of January.

Michael Bird, Eric Deloumeaux, Laurent D'Jaffo, Duncan Jones, Darren Mackie, Murray McCulloch, Jamie McQuilken and Scott Michie will all be allowed to leave Pittodrie while Steven Payne has already been released from his contract in order to join First Division challengers Queen of the South. The Dons boss explained the reasons for trying to move the players on. "It's no secret that we're operating within an extremely tight financial environment and in order to bring new faces in, I have to move some of the current players on.

"Eric and Darren haven't been featuring regularly recently and I believe a fresh challenge would be in both of their interests while Jamie has suffered from injury and young Scott Morrison has come in and performed very well in the left back position. "Michael Bird has not settled since his move to Scotland and he is keen to return south while Duncan, Murray, Scott and Steven, having not made the breakthrough, are at a stage where they really require to be playing first team football.

"The situation with Laurent is as it was in the summer of last year and, as is the case with all of the players mentioned, we will not be difficult to deal with.

"All of the players named have of course been informed and we have alerted clubs as to their availability. With a limited timeframe to work within, it is obviously in the interests of all parties for any developments to happen sooner rather than later."
