Aberdeen FC this afternoon confirms the loan signing of Ryan Edmondson from newly promoted English Premiership side Leeds United.

The 19-year-old striker arrives at Pittodrie on a short-term deal until January and will provide cover following injuries to Sam Cosgrove and Curtis Main, which will see them both miss the start of the Scottish Premiership campaign on Saturday.

Ryan, who has featured for the England U19’s side, trained with the team this morning and pending international clearance will go straight into the squad for the match against Rangers tomorrow.

Derek McInnes was pleased to bolster his squad given the unforeseen injuries to Sam and Curtis.

“I’m delighted Ryan is here.

“His eagerness and willingness to come to Aberdeen is really encouraging. He is a player we’ve known about for a while and always felt he had the correct attributes to add to our squad.

“With the injuries to Sam and Curtis we clearly would have been short of two of our key players so I must thank the Board for their co-operation in getting Ryan here, during what is a financially tough period for the Club.

“I’ve no doubt Ryan will have a positive impact during his time with us.”

Ryan will wear squad number 32.

The Club would like to thank Leeds United for their professionalism during the completion of the loan deal.

Everyone at AFC wishes Ryan all the best during this time at Pittodrie.
